FIM helps organisations show that they are managing money responsibily.
Over the years, Louise noticed a recurring challenge: good people doing the right things, but no simple way to demonstrate it when someone asked.
Funders value reassurance. Trustees value confidence. Stakeholders value transparency. FIM brings these together through an independent assessment built around evidence and good practice.
Expectations have changed too. Orgnaisations are increasingly expected to demonstrate transparency, accountability and responsible financial management. Many already do all of this well. FIM provides an independent way to demonstrate it.
Louise is an accountant with more than 25 years' experience supporting organisations across the public, private and third sectors.
Throughout her career she has worked with charities, community councils, social enterprises, CICs, not-for-profit organisations and small businesses, helping them strengthen financial management, improve reporting and build confidence in their financial practices.
She founded FIM to help organisations demonstrate responsible financial management through independent evidence, proportionate assessment and supportive guidance.
Today, Louise leads the development of FIM alongside a growing team, helping organisations build confidence, demonstrate good practice and provide independent evidence that is defensible under scrutiny.
FIM is supported by a team with expertise spanning accountancy, administration, technology, client support and assessment operations.
Together they support organisations through every stage of the FIM journey, from first enquiry and readiness check to assessment, reporting and ongoing development.
Every FIM assessment is evidence-based and carried out against the FIM standard.
The process is designed to be proportionate. Organisations vary widely in size, complexity and sector, so while the evidence required may differ, every organisation is assessed against the same core principles and assessment areas.
The aim is a fair, consistent and credible assessment that reflects the reality of each organisation.
Credibility and consistency sit at the heart of FIM.
FIM works with an independent external quality assurance partner who provides an additional layer of oversight. This further review helps ensure that assessments are applied fairly, consistently and in line with the published standard.
FIM is rigorous, but it is also designed to be supportive.
The assessment helps organisations recognise their strengths and identify opportunities for further development. Where development is needed, they receive clear feedback and practical guidance to help them progress.
The aim is not simply to assess organisations, but to help strengthen financial confidence, accountability and good practice across the sectors FIM serves.
FIM was founded on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales, and the Welsh Dragon was chosen as its symbol to reflect both that heritage and its value.
The dragon is one of the most recognised symbols of Wales and has long represented strength, protection, pride and resilience.
Combined with a modern, professional design, the logo reflects FIM's Welsh roots and its commitment to helping organisations show that they are managing money responsibly, through independent evidence that is defensible under scrutiny.
